The Super Bowl is a time for friends and family to get together, eat junk food and watch the big football game. Last night, UNL students spent their evenings with loved ones while they cheered on for the 49ers and Chiefs. While some students traveled home to enjoy the night with family, others spent time with their friends right here on campus. Whichever route they took, last night was a testament to how the Super Bowl brings people together.

Nebraska women's basketball achieved a thrilling 82-79 upset victory over No. 2 Iowa, prompting a court-storming celebration by Husker fans. Head coach Amy Williams hailed the win as a pivotal moment for Nebraska women's basketball. The game saw back-and-forth action, with Nebraska's defense adjustments proving crucial in securing the win. Despite Iowa's Caitlin Clark nearing a historic milestone, Nebraska's strategic changes and determined play propelled them to victory.

Amidst a nationwide trend of rolling back diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives in educational institutions, Nebraska faces a pivotal moment with LB 1330. Introduced by Senator Dave Murman, the bill aims to terminate DEI programs and training at public institutions. The proposed legislation has sparked intense debate among students and university representatives, who fear its broad language could drastically alter DEI efforts and educational environments. The hearing for the bill will take place on Feb. 13.

Individuals have moved to the social media platform TikTok to support different activist causes. With shortening attention spans, users have utilized 30-60 second videos to express calls to action, encourage audiences to attend protests, boycott certain businesses and more. TikTok has allowed movements to spread worldwide at a rapid pace and even connects like-minded individuals. This app has proved itself to be a way to spread information, promote awareness and spark social change.
