Pronouns, preferred names and the concept of gender identity are vital to anyone's identity. With the new Policy on Chosen Name and Gender Identity, the University of Nebraska system and LGBTQA+ Center at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln are working to make campus a safe place for all.
"In a nutshell, if you are genuinely interested in learning about an international student’s cultural background, your first step should not be confessing to them that you had no idea their country existed after they tell you where they are from.
Instead, it should be investing your time to learn about it. There are multiple ways you can do that. Attend an international students’ cultural event on campus. Look up and read books that international authors wrote. If you can, spare a few minutes and do some research on the internet. Although the internet does not always have the most accurate information, I am sure you’ve learned how to look for supporting evidence in any research."

In the annual Northwestern-Nebraska rivalry, senior sports editor Landon Wirt dives into the star players and unknowns of the Northwestern roster. Two familiar Wildcats show on defense from previous battles between the two but there are others who can possibly give Nebraska new fits this week.
The Kawasaki Reading Room, located in the Jackie Gaughan Multicultural Center, hosted a 29th birthday party on Sept. 24 in an effort to promote their student resources. The space offers 7,000 works on Japanese language, culture, hosts weekly Conversation Tables and Tea Time Fridays.
