After picking up a bass at 20 and launching a songwriting project the day he graduated from UNL, Efren Cortez of No Functional Purpose is teaming up with guitarist Warren Bable to craft an EP called "Black Ring." The name symbolizes Cortez's asexuality, a trait he said he hopes to express with his music and an ever-diversifying lineup of musicians.
Regina Werum, a professor of sociology and president of the UNL AAUP chapter, has been pushing for the Board of Regents to revise its bylaws to protect the faculty and teaching staff's academic freedoms. These revisions would include guidelines for what actions are worthy of administrative suspension, and the steps administration is required to take to place a faculty or teaching staff member on suspension.
Nebraska volleyball has gotten off to a 6-0 start this season, but will face its first true test this weekend. The No. 4 Huskers return home to face off against No. 5 Minnesota, a team which reached the Final Four in the 2019 NCAA Tournament.
