What the shuck is happening?
Vianne Sheikh, a junior emerging media arts major at UNL, and her family spent two weeks hiding as ISIS attacked her hometown of Sinjar, Iraq, in 2014, which resulted in a genocide of thousands of Yazidi civilians. Since coming to UNL last year, she has been determined to share the stories of the women who survived ISIS captivity.
Growing up in Gretna, Nebraska, Billie and Brooke Andrews dreamed of one day sharing the softball field representing the University of Nebraska. After overcoming some obstacles along the way, the Andrews sisters have realized that dream and have both starred for the Huskers this season.
Since 2000, Names Without Numbers has been playing rock hits alongside iconic bands like Jimmy Eat World and the Plain White T's. Twenty-one years after the group's genesis, it's still releasing hints. Their most recent piece, "Empires On Fire," premiered April 16 and featured Nashville Christian rock singer Matt Baird of the band Spoken.
