Last Thursday, students at the University of Nebraska Omaha voted to decrease allocations from $30,000 to $0 to the senior staff budget of The Gateway, the independent student newspaper of UNO. The Student Activities Budget Commission voted to send the new allocation to their student government in March, who placed it on the ballot for students to affirm.

While The Daily Nebraskan does not use student fees to pay student staffers, about 15 senior staff at The Gateway are paid with student fees, according to an editor at the paper.
